The Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra and Jaipur — is the classic first taste of India. Three cities, three very different characters, all within a few hours of one another and joined by good highways. It earns its name from the roughly triangular shape the route traces on a map. Most travellers do it in three to five days; this guide lays out a tight, achievable three-day version starting and ending in Jaipur, the way many of our passengers prefer.

The distances at a glance

• Jaipur → Agra: ~240 km, about 4–4.5 hours via NH21/Yamuna Expressway link
• Agra → Delhi: ~230 km, about 3.5–4 hours via the Yamuna Expressway
• Delhi → Jaipur: ~268 km, about 5–5.5 hours via NH48

The whole loop is roughly 720–750 km of driving, comfortably split across three days with full sightseeing in each city.

Day 1 — Jaipur, the Pink City

Spend your first day in Jaipur itself. Start early at Amber Fort, then take in the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and the Hawa Mahal facade, and finish with sunset at Nahargarh and street food in the old city. Day 2 — Jaipur to Agra

Leave Jaipur by 8:00 am. A worthwhile mid-route stop is Fatehpur Sikri, the perfectly preserved Mughal capital abandoned in the 16th century — about 40 km before Agra. Reach Agra by early afternoon, check in, and time your visit to the Taj Mahal for the softer late-afternoon light. Agra Fort, a short distance away, is the natural second stop. Tip: see the Taj at sunrise

If you can spare the early wake-up, the Taj at dawn is unforgettable and far less crowded. With a private cab you control the timing — your driver simply adjusts the day around it.

Day 3 — Agra to Delhi (and back to Jaipur)

From Agra, the Yamuna Expressway makes Delhi an easy morning drive. In Delhi, the highlights depend on your interests: Red Fort and Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb for Mughal architecture, India Gate and the government district for New Delhi. If your trip ends in Delhi — perhaps for a flight from IGI Airport — your cab drops you there. If you're looping back, the run from Delhi to Jaipur on NH48 completes the triangle by evening.
